Why to become a Member

Ambition of EFPA Association is to establish a legal representative in every European country in order to promote financial advisory culture across European Landscape. As of now EFPA is present in the following countries. Each national Member of EFPA enjoys exclusive rights on the whole local territory. EFPA AISBL is happy to establish new contacts with professional networks and organizations in other countries and work towards creation of new Memberships.

How to become a Member

Receive the application package:
affiliation agreement, association’s statutes, EFPA code of ethics, core competence framework for EIA, EIP, EFA and EFP and EFPA application form

Submit application form with business plan:
demonstrate financial and business viability

Receive EFPA approval sign letter of intent

Sign affiliation agreement

Set up a National Accreditation Committee

Accredit courses for examinations

Certify first licensees

Types of Membership

Members of EFPA can have either the Affiliate or Associate status.

Affiliates are full Members of Association and have the right to:

  • Nominate a representative for election to the Board.
  • Attend and vote at the General Meetings.
  • Participate in all activities and projects of the Association.
  • Sit on permanent or ad hoc committees of the Association.

Associates are the Members engaged in activities of Association from countries which are not yet represented by an Affiliate. This can happen in case the procedures to become an Affiliate have been initiated or in case of on-going due diligence in preparation for possible membership as an Affiliate. Associates have the opportunity to:

  • Attend the General Meetings, without any voting rights.
  • Participate in selected activities of the Association
  • Be invited to participate in permanent or ad hoc committees
  • Be invited to attend the Board of Directors meetings as guests of the Association without any voting rights

In countries with no formal Member a Chapter can be created under the full responsibility of one Affiliate. Representatives of the Chapters may attend a General Meeting and Board Meetings as a guest with no voting rights.

EFPA is a professional body defining standards for financial advisors’ education. Main activity of EFPA is preparation of examinations which allow to obtain EFPA certificates as well as accreditation of learning providers who provide preparatory courses and CPD activities.

EFPA Europe is an umbrella association which sets minimum quality standards mandatory to respect for all local EFPA organizations. EFPA Europe comprises of representatives of each local EFPA Association and therefore benefits from wide range of expertise. EFPA Europe defines minimum curriculum requirements for all certificates offered by local entities.

Organizations which represent the best fit for establishing a local EFPA are banking associations, tied agent associations, independent advisor associations, insurance agent associations.
